This carriage’s built-in kitchen was crafted by hand from reclaimed wood, which was carefully selected for its rich, textural aesthetic. Heritage pieces sit harmoniously alongside sleek contemporary fixtures for maximum aesthetic practicality. A beautiful, sliding Victorian rail carriage door divides the kitchen space from the living & sleeping areas, with an internal window bringing light and serene views within.
An elevated king-size alcove bed nestles in one end of the living | sleeping quarters, with beautiful folding steps to ease your way up. Beneath the bed, an ingenious bedside table | work desk | breakfast bar pulls out above ample storage cupboards.
Opposite this, a built-in sofa with reading lamp and chair cluster around a reclaimed corner stove and firewood nook. A rustic table and stool, hand-built from repurposed elm, look out onto water and the surrounding treescape. Each area in the carriage has an authentic cast iron radiator for ultimate cosiness during winter retreats. Wood-clad walls keep guests snug in winter and beautifully cool during summer heat.
Off the kitchen space, the elegant WC and shower room continue the combination of heritage and contemporary. 17th century oak clads the walls; a high-cistern Victorian WC, a heritage sink and shower tray feature alongside sleek, minimalist fittings. Soft towels in neutral tones complete the experience.
Glazed double doors open onto a spacious decked terrace which wraps around three sides of the carriage. A sofa, dining area and armchairs afford multiple choices for outdoors relaxation. For fireside lounging there’s an deep-bowled fire pit, and a premium outdoors cooking stove. Overlooking a peaceful lake with native waterfowl, it’s ideal for restorative contemplation. Unique to this carriage is an original, heavy, slide-action shutter door – perfect for shutting out winter weather.
