Norfolk countryside

Situated in a picturesque area called Breckland in South Norfolk, Settle is located one of the driest terrains in the UK. Our skies are often blue. Nearby Thetford Forest and Kings Forest, offer the largest lowland forest in the country and have miles of tranquil trackways and paths to explore.

Breckland is also a Special Protection Area (SPA) under the European Union Directive on the Conservation of Wild Birds, and one of the few areas in England where the rare and shy golden pheasant may be seen in the wild.

Here at Settle we receive regular visits from passing muntjac, roe deer and hares. Our lakes welcome a returning pair of swans each winter, as well as Canadian Geese in the spring - this year we spotted two content families. Other regular visitors include herons, waterhens, kingfishers and many songbirds. The lakes are also home to carp, roach & tench.
